SK Financial Group is committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This policy outlines how we manage and protect your data, ensuring we comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy applies to all divisions of our firm.
We may collect personal information necessary to provide you with financial advice and services. This may include your identity and contact details (such as your name, date of birth, address, and email), financial details (including your income, assets, and liabilities), employment information, and information about your goals and objectives and risk tolerance. We may also collect sensitive information, such as health records for insurance applications, but we will only do this with your explicit consent or if we are legally required or authorised to do so.
We may collect personal information directly from you during meetings, phone calls, and through forms, including our client portal and other correspondence. With your consent, we may also collect information from third parties, such as your accountant or solicitor.
We store this information both electronically and in hard copy, and we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains accurate, complete, and up to date. To protect your data from misuse, loss, or unauthorised access, we use robust security measures, including bank-level encryption for our client portal, regular internal audits to meet ISO 27001 standards, and secure access controls.
We only keep your personal information for as long as needed to provide our services or as required by law. Once it’s no longer necessary, we securely destroy or de-identify it to protect your privacy.
We may collect, use, and disclose your personal information primarily to provide you with financial advice and services. This includes everything from analysing your financial situation to develop a comprehensive financial plan, to recommending and implementing suitable products like superannuation or insurance, and managing your accounts on your behalf.
We also use your information to meet our legal obligations under the Corporations Act 2001 and other relevant laws. Please note that if you don’t provide us with the necessary information, we may not be able to offer appropriate or adequate advice, which could expose you to greater risks.
Additionally, we may use your information to send you direct marketing materials, such as articles or newsletters, but you can opt out of these communications at any time by contacting us.
In order to provide our services, we may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients. This is specifically relevant as we employ staff in other countries to support our Australian operations. The countries where your information may be disclosed includes the Philippines.
By providing us with your personal information, you consent to this disclosure. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipient handles your personal information in accordance with the APPs.
You have a right to request access to the personal information we hold about you. You can also request that we correct any information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
We will not charge you a fee for making a request, but we may charge a reasonable fee for the administrative costs of providing you with access. In some cases, we may refuse access or correction, as permitted by law, and if we do, we will provide you with a written explanation.
If you believe we have breached the APPs or have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our office directly. We will acknowledge your complaint within seven days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) for further assistance.
We may update this policy from time to time. The above is the most current version.
